I'm a freelance artist currently running her small business, alternating between selling my artwork on my online store and local cons.
Since I was younger I had a strong incline for creative tasks.
I've been drawing since I was a toddler, and never stopped doing it. I had a fixation on doing comic pages when I was a kid, I would create tons and tons of comic pages with my own characters and stories.
I was passionate about manga and anime since I was 11, so that was my main inspiration.
If you ask me about my art career, well... I didn't start studying art or something related to it until I finished High School. My plan was to study a University Career since it was what everyone is supposed to do when finishing high school and I was told several times by close friends that art wouldn't lead me anywhere.
So I went looking for a direction in life, trying to find a career that would suit me. I said if I'm gonna spend my life studying and working it better be something I truly enjoy... but none of them caught my eye (only one did it but it was way too expensive).
But one day a friend came up to me telling me that he was studying for a videogames development degree. Videogames were such a heavy influence on my life, and I didn't know such a thing existed!
Those were the best years of my educational life. I learned 3D modeling, programming (kind of lol), environment design, character design, prop design... and how to make a videogame from scratch.
After that, I had to choose another path to explore, because I didn't want to stop studying and developing my art skills. I went to an art school in Barcelona (Spain) and I had professionals who even worked for Marvel Comics as teachers.
That helped me to make a super boost in my art skills and give me extra ambition too!
It made me feel like I was ready to face the outside world and follow my own path.
I've been selling my art in local manga cons in my country and growing as an artist on the internet since then. Right now I'm more focused on doing a portfolio that allows me to have an art-related jo, for the moment I'm working as a comic inker for editorial teams.
I feel like I'm like everybody else, meaning that I haven't received a better or the same quality education as most of the top artists. In fact, I was a bit unlucky with some of my assigned teachers. But I'm a very self-taught and passionate person. And I think that's the key to succeed in the art world: find your own way and be passionate about what you love doing ♥
